"To Make Beautiful Software"
My initial motivation was to battle The Great Enshitification facing modern software. Modern hardware is so blazingly fast, it's like magic. I've used computers most of my life, and yet I am dazzled by what they're capable of accomplishing in less than a blink. It's amazing, a miracle -- but one that has been stolen away from us by the inadequacies of modern software. I remain incensed, and disgusted.
The other problem plaguing modern software is a lack of beauty and originality: software looks like software, and that's lame. Using a computer for practical reasons doesn't mean it needs to look like an office suite, if games can be art, so can software. I want to make useful, functional tools, that are pleasant, and even novel to interact with. I want to inspire joy with my work, we need more joy.
Hence, Mad Hermit Labs strives to produce beautiful software, always. There will be failure, disappointment, and compromise, all are inevitable truths in pursuit of such lofty goals. If you believe this is a worthy goal, please consider supporting me in its pursuit.
